Can an artist have more than 1 song running for record of the year in a Grammy ceremony, or even album?

Posted by admin on December 31st, 2009 and filed under album artist | 2 Comments »

Two songs that are totally his, from his album, and should an artist release two albums in the same year, can these albums square up against one other in categories?

Actually, it COULD happen… but to date, it has not and I doubt if it will ever.

    1) Members of the Recording Academy and record labels (*cough* conspiracy *cough*) submit their entries.

    2) Entries are reviewed for eligibility and classified by genre.

The genre part is self-explanatory. I don’t know what the eligibility requirements are other than the song/album being released during a certain time frame. I CAN tell you that SALES VOLUME is not a factor in the nomination process. It may appear that way, but only because maybe the persons voting on the nominees may be more familiar with projects they have heard on the radio or read reviews as opposed to, say, an indie artist who hasn’t gotten any airplay. I have seen plenty nominations that were NOT platinum or even gold.

For example: Kirk Frankin’s Nu Nation Project won a Grammy in 1999. The nomination process closes in the beginning of November and nominees are announced around the beginning of December. November 1998, that project had not even gone gold yet. It went platinum in January 1999, about 6 weeks after the nominees were announced (*hmmmm*).

I’m not bashing KF at all, just using this as an example to make my point of how everything appears to be linked.

    3) Nominations are put on a ballot and sent out to industry professionals in all genres.

    4) These professionals vote (*cough* politics *cough*) on these preliminary (first-round) nominees (they have to stick to their own genre) and send their ballots to a third party.

    5) The votes are tabulated, and a final ballot is sent out. This time, industry professionals AND Academy members vote on the winners.

    6) Votes are tabulated, sealed and delivered for presentation during the Grammy Awards live.

So…. TECHNICALLY it’s possible, but REALISTICALLY, it will never happen, which is fair, because it offers more opportunities for someone to earn the coveted award.

So, you can have 2 ice-cold Cokes in the fridge, but the chances of you sticking both bottles in your mouth at the same time and drinking them is not likely. It CAN happen, but not likely.

Whats a website I can go to for album downloads and/or dvd downloads??

Posted by admin on December 31st, 2009 and filed under album downloads | 3 Comments »

If you want to torrent albums and DVDs, a good bet would be the torrent searcher isoHunt (www.isohunt.com). There are many others besides isoHunt, among them SumoTorrents (for movies and music), BoxTorrents (for anime), and Torrentz (for everything). However, you require a BitTorrent client (such as Azureus, my personal recommendation) to download albums and DVDs.

If you just want to direct download music, I recommend a Russian site called MNOGOMP3 (www.mnogomp3.net). It’s a bit hard to navigate, but is well-worth it as you will find an expansive selection of artists and musical styles there. You may also be able to search Megaupload or Rapidshare to obtain the music you want. Additionally, there’s a handy website called FilesTube (www.filestube.com) that’s sort of like YouTube, but for downloading files of all kinds – it searches Megaupload, Rapidshare, Badongo, and FTP among others to find the artist/track you want.

You’ll just have to torrent the DVDs, as I lack knowledge of any site which can be used to direct-download movies.

The direct download link is -

    Have you ever visited http://www.musicforte.com/

It’s an indie community you could probably get some good ideas there

How to get rid of multipul album covers on coverflow for iTunes?

Posted by admin on December 31st, 2009 and filed under album covers | 1 Comment »

On iTunes some of the albums on ‘cover flow’ are duplicates. It doesn’t recognize that the songs are from the same album. I have looked through all the songs that are on the album to make sure that everything was the same but there is still more then one. How can I fix that??

First, take a deep breath and calm down. :-)

In my experience, that occurs usually one of three ways: how the songs are listed (by Title, Artist, Album, etc.), whether they’re compilations (such as in a soundtrack), or errors in the Sorting fields.

The listing is easy enough to solve: click on the Album column, and the duplicates will disappear.

Compilations are likewise easily fixed. Under the File menu, go to Get Info. A dialog box will appear; click on the "Info" button at the top. You will see a checkbox at the bottom with "Part of a compilation," to the right of the Genre drop-down menu. Click this box, and you’ll be good to go.

Errors in the fields are a bit trickier to resolve, as they’re time-consuming.

Using the Get Info procedure I outlined, go to the Sorting tab, where you can check the various sort fields.

You need to check for misspellings, as this will affect the display of the tracks in your iTunes music library, as will extra spaces between words in titles, artists, and so forth. Fix these, and problems arising from these errors will also disappear.

In the future, I recommend spending some time exploring iTunes to learn more about it, as well as the Help section, so you may resolve problems on your own.

    Carnifex- New album cover art.

Posted by admin on December 30th, 2009 and filed under album cover | No Comments »

THE NEW COVER ART FOR THE UPCOMING CARNIFEX ALBUM (”HELL CHOSE ME”).

THE SONG IS “in coalesce with filth and faith” FROM THEIR SECOND ALBUM. ONE OF THE SICKEST MOST BRUTAL DEATH METAL BANDS GOING AROUND THESE DAYS…AND FROM THE EARLY REPORTS THIS NEW ALBUM IS THE MOST BRUTAL OF ALL!!!!

    \M/

    Myspace:

“Derived from the Latin word for “Executioner”, the name for the public executioner at Rome, who put slaves and foreigners to death, their moniker could not be more appropriate. It’s a word that reeks of death and destruction from the Dark Ages to describe a fierce, dark death metal band. It’s hard to imagine that San Diego, known for its white sand beaches and endless sunny days, is also home to the brutal beat down that is Carnifex.”

    Duration : 0:3:17
