TOUR SUCCESS!
posted 59 days ago by Jodi Penner

Thanks to all who shared in hosting us on our 16 concert tour! We had a blast getting to know you and sharing our music with Connie Mitchell’s story. It was a blessing to us and I hope it blessed you too!

Please drop a message to me here or my personal email pennerj@telus.net to give feedback on the concert you attended or hosted- we would love to hear from you and keep in touch!

We arrived home to Alberta August 12th over a month on the road!

No hassles at the border, thankfully, and all were healthy on the trip!

Our current job situation is still up in the air, so please keep our family in your prayers, as we have some very big decisions to make in the next weeks.

May God Bless you and we will keep you posted on our future plans with Jodi’s music and future tours ahead!

Late in August, we took a long weekend trip to Waterton Lakes in Southern Alberta. Right after this picture was taken, we picked a bunch of wild saskatoon berries. They were sooo delicious! I even took extra home to put in our pancakes!

Back in the Studio

Brian flew up on Sept. 3 and we started recording with fury for 5 days at St. Barnabas in Three Hills. We had a cellist, upright bass, 2 violists and mandolin all scheduled, as well as the additional foundational traks to record. We tried to be organised with our time, but there were a few rabbit trails here and there… like trying to tune the piano with a wrench from the car!! (It didn’t really work, so we ended up recording the piano as it was) We also got together my kids and my neice and nephew to sing backround vocals on “Have Mercy”, one of Scott Bakers’ songs. We got the kids in the car after supper and zipped over to the church, and an hour later, we had a great addition to the song! Overall, I think we accomplished our goal of finishing the remainder of the album!! So exciting! Pictures are coming….. Jodi

Summit August 2006

Great friends, Chad Sundeen and Jacob Zachary were just up here doing worship for Summit, a leadership conference at Prairie Bible Institiute. I assisted them with piano and vocals as well as hosting them in our house. It felt like college again- staying up late every night making music and having so much fun.

We did an evening of music at the Rosebud Cafe as well as a wrap-up concert in Parable Place the last night.

Pictures coming…. Jodi

Passion Play
posted 811 days ago by Jodi Penner

This summer, I had the pleasure of playing Mother Mary in the Canadian Badlands Passion Play. It is a huge summer attraction in Western Canada, and it is attended by audiences averaging over 1000. It was great fun to get my family involved in the cast/crowd as well, and we made small vacations out of our weekends camping in Drumheller. Here is a sample pic of what the site looks like.

Another exciting aspect about being involved with the Passion Play, is having “They That Sow” used in the show. The lyrics for the song fit perfectly into to context of several healing scenes, and the directors all decided to use the song in 2 places of the show.

Pierce Pettis Concert

The Pierce Pettis concert was great! It is always a pleasure to hear him, and he really gave a good performance. I didn’t realize how funny he could be! Unfortunately, the temperatures here dropped really low just before he got into town, so I hope he can warm up again down in his Southern Alabama. I had Ed Yourk playing guitar with me, a great friend and musician, and also Dan Froese on violin. It was a highlight for me to even share the stage with such an accomplished artist like Pierce, and to get to know him on a more professional level. Enjoy the pics!

Upcoming Show in Alberta

Happy Canadian Thanksgiving everyone- yes it does seem a bit early for turkey and stuffing, but I can always eat it!!! Anyways, check out my new xanga site! Also, I am opening for Peirce Pettis on Nov. 30! I’m really looking forward to it. I will be doing several songs from the demo as well as some other originals that I have written on guitar. Hope any in this vicinity of Alberta can make it!
