I have to create a profit & loss account for a lauch of a new music album; i know that production costs go under direct costs and promotional expenses under expenses, what about distribution costs and group royalty? are they costs or expenses?

I would say as an expense.

   In my view in the direct cost, as it is relevant to a specific activity and not day to day expense of the company.
