Burzum – Belus is the first Burzum record in over 11 years. Varg Vikernes has been sitting in prison for a long long time after the murder of Euronymous of Mayhem. Belus is a step back to his old dirty sounding black metal ways. First thing first, the production of this record is really poor and very flat sounding. I couldn’t help thinking this the whole time I was listening to this record. The songs were a hit and miss with me. Some of them were more aggressive than others. The tracks are very very repetitive sounding. Maybe the hype for this was to much. I was expecting alot more, but then again, maybe hes a little rusty. Or maybe that was the sound he was going for. I can see alot of people either liking this alot or not liking it much.

I am new to the whole Jay Reatard thing. I was first turned on to him from my good buddy, theneedledrop. Watch Me Fall is a very very catchy garage rock with pop and punk elements thrown in. Jay is a very talented song writer. His songs are short, to the point, and did I say catchy? Drums are very old sounding, guitars are pretty twangy, and his vocal style is very unique. He also makes great use of organs, cellos, and more! I could of gotten more aggression and fuzz on the guitars but this was a pretty laid back, happy at times record.
